Going local in Kathmandu? Use public transportation!

We use public transportation as much as we can.

We use buses when we go out of the valley – or the tourist buses for popular destinations like Pokhara and Chitwan.

In Kathmandu we try to use the Micros and Tempos as often as possible. Its fun, fast and a good way to get in touch with people. And then we avoid the taxis that always try to cheat you.

The Tempo

The Micro

#5 (Micros & Tempos) goes to Lazimpat and stops just outside Hotel Gang Jong – from here there is only 100 meter to Tings.

For other directions – check out this map.

The price is 15 Nrp for one trip. If you changes to another ‘bus’ you pay again.

Don’t be afraid – its great fun and the fastest (and most crowded) way to get around if you don’t have a Motor Bike.
