Today we’ve done something we’ve never did before: Inviting guests to stay for free

Dorje w Martin and Susanne from The Twisting Spokes

Dorje welcomes Martin and Susanne when they arrived at Tings

Hi there! Come along with us on our adventure

On the 2nd of February 2014 we embarked on our long desired adventure: Cycling east from Rotterdam with Nepal as destination. As we travel and meet people our horizon will broaden, follow us and see the world with our eyes. Through this website you can explore the places we see, read about the people we meet on the road, learn about the topics we find interesting & inspiring and read more about our thoughts, feelings and what makes us wonder… We travel unsupported and rely on our own funding. Here on twisting spokes we will share our story…. From the blog The Twisting Spokes

739 days, 30,000 km and 17 punctures ago Susanne & Martin left Denmark on their bikes

A couple of hours ago they arrived at Tings after a fantastic travel I have followed the last months. They have been so generous to share their adventure on their blog: The Twisting Spokes – so if you feel bored and need to get inspiration in life, I really recommend that you click in…. (And if you wonder how I find these websites and blogs, I don’t mind sharing as well: Use Twitter and Bloglovin… it’s much better than newspapers… – but that’s another story)

HC Andersen

To move, to breathe, to fly, to float,
To gain all while you give,
To roam the roads of lands remote,
To travel is to live.

Poem by Hans Christian Andersen

We have a principle: We DON’T GIVE DISCOUNTS, AND WE never give away rooms

Except for the earthquake where The Tings Kids crashed for God knows how long time, we’ve never let people stay with us for free.

But when I saw Martin and Susanne’s Support Us: Oat For Breakfast! box on the blog I asked Dorje if we could make an exception and invite them. Being travelers ourselves we know how much people’s generosity and hospitality means.

The way Martin and Susanne travel proves that you don’t have to stay with your boring studies, jobs, houses and weather – that it is possible to get out on the road and LIVE. The adventures they are having gives them much more than any university, college and company can give. And having a travel like theirs on their CV makes them much more attractive for companies looking for staff than most other candidates.

Being able to inspire our friends, guests and followers around the world with Martin & Susanne & The Twisting Spokes stories is an opportunity we wouldn’t be without… and worth much more than the price for their room.
